Michael B showed me this recipe on the Big Green Egg forum. I tried it and it is fantastic, mon!
here is the process of monkey bread (the way i do it):
frozen white dinner roll dough balls, 3 per pot
one stick melted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 t cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
optional toppings of honey, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce
- thaw 3 frozen white dinner roll dough balls per 3" flower pot per package instructions
- punch the risen dough down and cut each dough ball into three equal pieces
- combine brown sugar and cinnamon on paper plate and walnuts on another paper plate
- spray seasoned clay flower pots* with non-stick spray, and place a small piece of parchment paper over the hole in the bottom of the pot, melt stick of butter in coffee mug
- layer by dunking three dough ball pieces in the melted butter, then rolling each piece in the sugar mixture, placing in the pot, and sprinkling walnuts for three layers
- let assembled pots rise to the top of the pot
- indirect/plate setter/pizza stone drip pan under pots @ 400 for 30 minutes or so until it looks done and is 200 degrees internal.
- cool, remove from pots using a butter knife around the edge if it's stuck. eat as is or top with whatever is near you!
- enjoy!
* to season the clay flower pots, coat the inside and rim with vegetable oil, place in oven with a foil drip pan underneath and bring to 400 degrees and back to room temp, recoat with oil and repeat.
