View on Amazon

The Black and Decker 4-Slice Natural Convection Toaster Oven earns the Best Overall Choice award for its budget-friendly price, sleek construction, and ample heat output.

The first thing you’ll notice is the sleek stainless steel design. So this convection is easy to clean as well as rust- and corrosion-resistant.

At 11.63” X 16.86” X 9.07” at only 8.43 pounds, this unit is compact and lightweight. If you have limited counter space, this unit stows away nicely. That said, this countertop convection oven also integrates into a variety of kitchen styles and will even hold its own beside high-end stainless steel appliances.

This countertop convection oven gives you the flexibility to convection bake, broil, toast, and warm. Despite its compact footprint, the convection oven accommodates four slices of bread or even a 9” pizza.

In total, this convection oven puts out 1,150 watts of heat, so it effortlessly soars to over 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer – Best Overall Choice #2

Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer, Silver

View on Amazon

The Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer is a seven-in-one countertop convection that comes packed with features. But the actual start of the show is the air fryer feature.

If you’re new to the game, an air fryer is essentially a souped-up countertop convection that gives you deep-fried crisp with a little oil – or none at all.

Here’s how it works: The top portion of the convection oven holds the heating mechanism and fan. So when you fill your fry basket and turn on the convection oven, hot air rapidly circulates around the food, making it crisp, much like deep frying. No oil is required.

In addition to air frying, this countertop convection oven also bakes, broils, and toasts.

This Cuisinart convection oven measures 15.5” X 16” X 14” and weighs 21 pounds. So while it’s got a little heft to it, it does stow away nicely into the kitchen cabinet.

Despite its moderate footprint, this Cuisinart unit accommodates six slices of bread, air fry up to three pounds of chicken wings, and even bake a 12” pizza.

Those with limited storage space will like this countertop convection oven, too. I like the sleek stainless steel exterior, which integrates any kitchen, even higher-end prep spaces with stainless steel appliances.

If you’re looking for a versatile, fairly-priced countertop convection oven, check out the Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer.

3. Ninja SP101 Foodi Countertop Convection Oven

Ninja SP101 Foodi Counter-top Convection Oven, 8 Functions + Standard Height, Stainless Steel/Black

View on Amazon

The Ninja SP101 Foodi Countertop Convection Oven is a slick little countertop convection oven that stands out for its eight-in-one cooking capability, high heat output, and affordable price tag.

There’s a lot to like about this countertop convection oven, but I was immediately smitten by the slim, 7” tall design. So when you’re using the convection oven, lay it flat. When you’re done, reclaim your counter space by flipping the oven up on its backside and pushing it off to the side.

As I mentioned, this is an eight-in-one convection toaster oven, so it’ll bake, roast, broil, toast, and even dehydrate and air fry.

This convection oven is also incredibly efficient. It heats in as little as sixty seconds – that’s about 60 percent faster than a regular oven.

This convection toaster oven has a relatively compact footprint at 19.72” X 7.56” X 14.96” and 18.5 pounds. Yet it still has enough room to accommodate a 13” X 13” sheet pan, up to nine slices of toast, and can air fry up to four pounds of wings.

The Ninja SP101 Foodi Countertop Convection Oven is a clear winner in terms of versatility, cost, and efficiency.

4. Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven Convection Toaster Oven

Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven Convection Toaster Oven, Brushed Stainless Steel

View on Amazon

The Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven Convection Toaster Oven earns high marks for its sleek stainless steel construction, large-capacity interior, and Smart Element IQ, which I’ll explain below.

So in the world of convection ovens, there’s heat – and then there’s smart heat. This convection falls into the intelligent category.

The built-in Element IQ Technology transfers heat across five quartz elements producing more stable and even heat output than most convection ovens. As a result, you get evenly cooked food every time.

And with a 1,000-watt heating element at your disposal and a large 18.5” X 15.7” X 11.1” interior, you’ll have enough space and heat for six slices of bread or a 13” pizza.

Additional features include a sleek LCD where you can choose between nine cooking functions: toast, bagel, bake, roast, broil, pizza, cookies, reheat, and warm.

This unit also cleans up nicely. That’s, in part, because it is made from nearly top-to-bottom stainless steel. But it also doesn’t hurt that the inside of the oven has a non-stick coating for quick and easy cleanup.

I also like the interior light, which automatically turns on when you open the door.

If you’re looking for a mid-priced countertop convection oven with enough room to cook for the entire family, check out the Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven Convection Toaster Oven.

If you’re on a budget but don’t want to compromise on cooking space and heat power, check out the Oster Convection Toaster Oven.

This countertop convection oven may not come with sleek stainless steel construction, but I see it as a solid “daily driver.” This countertop oven may not have the bells and whistles of a higher-end convection oven, but it’ll certainly get you where you need to be.

This unit measures 16.3” X 19.7” X 11.3” and weighs in at 20 pounds. Despite its relatively compact footprint, this countertop oven accommodates a 12” pizza and pans as large as 10.5” wide and 12.5” long.
This convection oven also does an excellent job of locking in temperatures and heating quickly. It has a wide cooking temperature range of 150-450 degrees Fahrenheit, just like a conventional oven.

I also like the one-touch digital control station, which allows you to choose from convection bake, broil, toast, pizza, warm, and more. Time and temperature also adjust with the push of a button. I also appreciate that Oster Convection Toaster Oven added an interior light so you can monitor the cooking process.

If you lead a busy life and find yourself scrambling to throw together healthy meals at the end of the day, you’re going to love the COSORI Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo.

COSORI’s tagline is: “A full spectrum of flavor and limitless possibilities.” From what I can tell, that’s not a massive exaggeration.

This tabletop unit behaves like a traditional convection oven, but it can also moonlight as a rotisserie, dehydrator, fermenter, and air fryer. As I said, the possibilities are endless.

I like having the flexibility to hot air fry french fries and chicken wings one day and then dehydrate meat or make my beef jerky, banana chips, and healthy trail mix the next.

This convection oven has many shining features, but I was blown away by the rotisserie function. Indeed, this convection oven comes with a rotisserie spit. Plus, five heating elements and two fans.

So it creates 360-degrees of heat circulation, allowing you to make rotisserie chicken. The beauty is that this convection toaster oven makes rotisserie chicken in half the time it takes conventional ovens.

If you want virtually unlimited cooking flexibility that comes with good looks and a fair price tag, check out the COSORI Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo.

Toshiba AC25CEW-BS Toaster Oven, 6-Slice Bread/12-Inch Pizza, Black Stainless Steel, 1500W

View on Amazon

The Toshiba AC25CEW-BS Convection Toaster Oven is another one of my favorite convection ovens.

The first thing you’ll notice is that this unit is heavy on stainless steel and light on plastic. This sharp little convection oven easily integrates into any kitchen, but it looks incredibly sleek next to stainless steel appliances.

This convection cooking machine allows you to toast, bake, broil, warm, and cook rotisserie chicken. This convection toaster comes complete with a rotating rotisserie spit. And when you use this energy-efficient unit instead of conventional ovens, you cut your cooking time in half.

At 18.98” X 15.6” X 10.79” and clocking in at 16 pounds, this mini smart oven does have a moderately large footprint. But I like having the flexibility to cook up to six slices of toast, four pounds of chicken, a 12” pizza and, of course, an entire rotisserie chicken.

This basic convection oven comes with a few additional accessories, including a removable crumb tray, a rotisserie kit and lifter, oven racks, and a baking pan.

I also like the LED-backlit control panel, which looks sharp and is easy to read, even in low-light situations. It’s really simple to rotate between cooking modes and select your cooking time.

The Breville BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro Countertop Convection Oven is another one of my favorite convection ovens.

There’s a lot to love about this convection toaster oven. To start, it’s made from nearly top-to-bottom brushed stainless steel. I also like that this toaster oven has a large cooking area (18.5” X 15.7” X 11.1”) and a Smart Element IQ, which I’ll get into next.

The built-in Element IQ Technology uses a convection fan to transfer heat across five quartz heating elements. As a result, this energy-efficient convection toaster oven produces more stable and even heat output than most countertop convection ovens.

And with 1,800 watts of power at your disposal and a large 18.5” X 15.7” X 11.1” interior, you have plenty of heat and space to whip up six slices of toast, a 13” pizza, and even a rotisserie chicken.

Extras include a sleek LCD where you can choose between nine cooking modes: toast, bagel, bake, roast, broil, pizza, cookies, reheat, and warm.

I also like that this convection toaster oven comes with a slow cook function, allowing you to cook low-and-slow for up to 10 hours before the heating elements shut down.

The inside of this slow-cook machine is treated with a non-stick coating for quick and easy clean-up. A bonus is that this Breville smart oven includes an integrated oven light, much like a traditional oven.

If you’re looking for a mid-priced countertop convection oven with enough room to cook for the entire family, check out the Breville BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro Countertop Convection Oven.

This unit measures in at 19.29” X 21.65” X 12.91”, which is small enough not to crowd the kitchen counter but large enough to accommodate a variety of foods. The large interior comes with two cooking racks, just like standard ovens. So there’s room to fit two 13” pizzas, a family-sized chicken, or up to 18 slices of bread.

Why buy a countertop convection oven?

Countertop convection ovens are about the size of a microwave. So while they’re relatively compact, they’re surprisingly powerful and offer several advantages over traditional stoves.

Faster cooking

Unlike a regular oven, countertop ovens use a convection fan to blow hot air directly onto food. So as you cook food, hot air circulates throughout the entire cooking chamber. As a result, food cooks evenly and about 25 percent faster than in a traditional oven.

More even cooking

Traditional ovens frequently have hotspots, which is always a bummer. Countertop ovens, however, cook food evenly because the built-in fan circulates hot air throughout the inside of the machine.

More energy-efficient

Countertop convection ovens also offer significant energy savings. Convection ovens have a much smaller footprint than traditional ovens, so they take less energy to heat. Convection ovens also reduce your cook time by approximately 25 percent, which saves you time and money.

Several cooking modes

The beauty of convection ovens is that many of them bake, air fry, and dehydrate. Some convection ovens even come with a built-in rotisserie kit. This gives you a lot of flexibility to make restaurant-style French fries and chicken wings, as well as beef jerky and trail mix.

How do I use a convection oven?

Convection ovens are incredibly easy to use. Some extra-large digital countertop units allow you to set timers and alarms or choose unique cook modes from a touch screen. Others come with simple analog dials.

To use a convection oven, simply plug it in, dial in your convection setting, wait for it to preheat, and place your food inside the cooking chamber. It’s as simple as that.

How does a countertop oven work?

Convection ovens are different from traditional ovens in that they use a fan to blow hot air directly onto food. So as you cook food, hot air circulates throughout the entire cooking chamber. As a result, food cooks evenly and about 25 percent faster than in a traditional oven.

What can I cook with a countertop convection oven?

Convection ovens are very versatile. You can use them to prepare just about anything you’d cook in a regular oven.

That includes frozen foods, roasted meat and vegetables, casseroles, cookies, granola, and more.

And if your convection oven quadruples as an oven, rotisserie, air fryer, and air fryer, the sky’s the limit.

You can make rotisserie chickens, chicken wings, soufflés, meringues, banana chips, and that’s just the start.

What features to look for in a convection oven

There are several features to consider when shopping for a convection oven. These include price, size, functions, features, and the additional features below.

Price

Convection ovens are surprisingly consumer-friendly. Countertop ovens generally start around $45 for a basic unit and run up to about $300 for the best countertop convection oven.

Even the most expensive units are well within reach of the average consumer.

If you’re looking for a basic convection oven and don’t need all the bells and whistles (air fryer, rotisserie), check out the Black and Decker 4-Slice Natural Convection Toaster Oven.

Those looking for virtually unlimited cooking flexibility may like the surprisingly affordable COSORI Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo.

Countertop space

Convection ovens are, generally speaking, made for countertops. So most of them have a compact footprint. Before you purchase, measure the depth and width of your kitchen counters. If you have limited space, toaster ovens can convert into wall ovens with a wall mount kit.

Household size

Convection ovens come in a variety of sizes. Some, like the Black and Decker 4-Slice Natural Convection Toaster Oven, may be best suited for singles and couples.

Others, like the Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Convection Oven, can cook for an entire family.

Functions

While convection ovens are generally quite user-friendly, they function typically with either analog or digital controls. I like having a backlit LCD screen, which allows me to lock in temperatures and read temperature settings and timer countdowns from across the room.

However, some users may like the simplicity of traditional knobs. The choice is yours. One isn’t necessarily better than the other.

Features

Convection ovens are versatile machines. If you’re a casual cook who likes to make frozen pizzas, toast, and other food items quickly, any small, budget-friendly convection will do.

However, if you’re an adventurous cook and like the flexibility to make rotisserie chickens, wings, soufflés, meringues, banana chips, and more, many units allow you to do so.

Warranty

Is a convection oven warranty a critical feature? That depends on who you ask. Some units are so cost-efficient that even if they only lasted a season, they’d pay for themselves when you consider the energy savings.

That said, if you end up splurging on a higher-end unit like the COSORI Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo, you’ll be happy to know that it comes with a one-year warranty.

What is the best countertop convection oven for you?

So what is the best countertop convection oven on the market? That ultimately depends on your budget, needs, and preferences. However, if I had to choose one standout unit, it’d be the Black and Decker 4-Slice Natural Convection Toaster Oven.

[amazon box=”B0721CGB5F” tracking_id=”convection-ovens02-20″]

I’m a big fan of stainless steel, and there’s a lot of it going on here. So this convection is sleek, rugged, and easy to clean. Plus, it’s rust- and corrosion-resistant.

At 11.63” X 16.86” X 9.07” at only 8.43 pounds, this unit is compact and lightweight. If you have limited counter space, this unit stows away nicely. It also looks fantastic in any kind of kitchen – even those with high-end stainless steel appliances.

In total, this convection oven puts out 1,150 watts of heat, so it effortlessly soars to over 450 degrees Fahrenheit. And for the size, I was happy to find out that it’ll accommodate up to four slices of bread or even a 9” pizza. That’s plenty of room for a single person or a couple.
